Exceptional Child Education (ECE) programs are designed to meet the needs of the student whose approach to learning is different from that of his/her peers. A variety of programs, techniques, methods, and materials are available and utilized for individualized instruction. Individual Education Program (IEP) goals for the ECE student are directed toward addressing academic as well as social/emotional needs. Transition needs are also considered and addressed through the IEP goals (e.g., change in academic program, progressing from one level to another, career development skills).

Southwest Center is located in PRP region of Louisville and truly believes in our mission: to provide a structured and supportive environment combined with enriching work opportunities that foster growth and independence for adults with disabilities. Finding employment in the community for qualified candidates we have achieved much success mentoring and developing relationships with employers. We are here to serve consumers with all backgrounds and/or disabilities who are authorized to received services through the of Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (CRP & Supported Employment), and Medicaid Waiver programs (Michelle P. & SCL).

Harbor House is certified as a Medicaid waiver program providing the Supports for Community Living (SCL) waiver. The SCL program provides an alternative to institutional care for individuals with mental or developmental disabilities by allowing them to choose to remain in or return to the larger community.

Goodwill Industries of Kentucky, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Louisville, KY, that helps people with disabilities or other disadvantages achieve and maintain employment to gain a better quality of life. Our stores employ people who have difficulty finding or maintaining a job in a traditional work environment and provide hands-on opportunities to learn customer service, cashiering, processing, and time management skills. In addition, Goodwill stores generate revenue to support other programs that assist job seekers, including but not limited to people with disabilities, those transitioning from public assistance, the justice system, or who have limited education or work history.

Since 1978, Seven Counties Services has delivered innovative individualized and compassionate community-based treatment, support and services for persons with behavioral health needs including people with mental illness, children with emotional and behavioral disorders, individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities, and adults and adolescents with addiction and substance use disorders.

Path Forward is a nonprofit organization on a mission to empower people to restart their careers after time spent focused on caregiving. We fulfill this mission by working with companies to create and run mid-career internships — also known as “returnships” — that give women and men a jump start back to a professional career, while giving companies access to a diverse, untapped talent force. Since 2016, we’ve worked with more than 75 companies to create return to work programs, including Walmart, Netflix, Apple, SAP, NBCUniversal, Verizon, PayPal, Intuit, and others. More than 80% of the participants in our programs have been hired by the companies where they completed their returnships.
Supported Employment Alliance
SEA’s focus is on sustainable competitive employment for anyone with any disability who wants to work. Since 2006, we have assisted hundreds of individuals in working towards their employment goals, working with businesses to provide training and support, and partnering with providers of other services. We have also recently begun providing Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) to high school students. All our referrals and funding come from the Kentucky Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.
Shultz Career Consulting
Career Consulting by Shultz offers 1:1 career counseling, career assessments, interview coaching, professional resume writing, and also forensic vocational evaluations and expert testimony. Our clients come from a wide range of backgrounds: from young professionals, high school students, and higher-level earners.
